Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
Peat smoke roars from the glass, briny Islay notes of iodine and sea spray cutting through the air. Cognac cask maturation adds richness—figs, dried apricot, vanilla, toffee and a hint of cocoa—woven with velvety oak. A bold, luxurious aroma that feels both ferocious and refined, inviting another sip of this rare 5-year-old expression.
Palate
Peat-driven smoke leads with maritime depth, tempered by Cognac-cask sweetness. Vanilla, toffee and caramel unfold into sun-warmed fig and apricot, threaded by cocoa nib and a hint of dark chocolate. Spices—clove and nutmeg—ignite the heat, while an oily, full-bodied mouthfeel coats the tongue. The finish is long and resinous, with subtle iodine and a lingering cognac warmth.
Finish
An expansive, lingering finish of smoke and warmth. Peat remains bold, gently tempered by Cognac cask maturation—rich raisin, apricot glaze, vanilla, and leather. Sweetness fades into a suave, vinous glow with toasted spice and a whisper of iodine, leaving a long, resinous, gently smoky aftertaste.
