For the first time in an Octomore .4 release, barley grown on Octomore Farm has been matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and French virgin oak casks. The barley lends a gentle, earthy backbone, while the bourbon barrels contribute notes of toasted oak, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a touch of sweet smoke. The French virgin oak imparts a depth and maturity that extends well beyond the whisky’s five years.
