Lowlands
The Lowlands form one of Scotland’s five recognised Scotch whisky regions, covering the southern part of the country below an imaginary line running roughly between Greenock in the west and Dundee in the east. The region includes major population centres such as Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as large areas of farmland across Ayrshire, Fife, the Borders and Dumfries & Galloway. Historically, the Lowlands played an important role in both malt and grain whisky production, particularly in supplying spirit for Scotland’s blended whiskies.
