The Lindores Abbey Friar John Annual Release 2026 honours Friar John Cor, the monk connected to the earliest written reference to Scotch whisky production. In 1494, the Exchequer Rolls recorded malt being supplied to Friar John by order of King James IV to make aqua vitae, linking Lindores Abbey directly to one of the most important moments in Scotland’s whisky history.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV, this Lowland single malt is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration. The distinctive illustrated label places the historic abbey and Friar John story at the centre of the release, making the 2026 edition a particularly fitting expression of Lindores Abbey’s connection between modern whisky making and its remarkable heritage.
