Lindores Commemorative First Release Lowland Scotch Single Malt Whisky
In stock
Bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV, the Lindores Abbey Commemorative First Release marks the distillery’s first widely available single malt following the revival of whisky production at the historic Lindores Abbey site in Fife. The first 12,750 bottles were given special commemorative labels to celebrate the launch.
The whisky matured for around three and a half years in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, sherry butts and STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) red wine barriques, a style of cask management influenced by the late whisky expert Dr Jim Swan.
Lindores Abbey is widely regarded as the spiritual home of Scotch whisky, as the earliest written record of distillation in Scotland dates to 1494, when King James IV ordered a monk at the abbey, Brother John Cor, to produce “aqua vitae” from malt.
