While The Peat Monster may boast purely Scottish ancestry, this is a whisky born in the USA. To mark its 20th birthday, and to celebrate America’s influence on Scotch whisky more broadly, Compass Box have finished some of this whisky in very special seasoned virgin American white oak barrels.
On the nose; sooty barbecue smoke, green apple and powerfully aromatic citrus oils, all underpinned by warming cinnamon. On the palate; tarry, smoked almond, with the seasoned virgin oak delivering added richness and vanilla notes alongside seaweed, cayenne pepper and saltiness.

Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery highlights and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
Sooty barbecue smoke mingles with crisp green apple and bright citrus oils, all warmed by cinnamon. A bold, aromatic nose with lively fruit and spice, immediately inviting.
Palate
Tarry, smoked almond lead the palate, while seasoned virgin oak brings richness and vanilla. Seaweed and salt mingle with a cayenne pepper bite, delivering a coastal, peppery warmth and a lingering, resinous finish.
Finish
Very long, warming finish that clings with tarry peat, smoked almond and char from the seasoned virgin American oak. Rich vanilla and spice unfold as coastal notes of sea salt and seaweed linger, with a peppery cayenne kick that slowly fades into a soft sweetness.
