Lindores Thompson Bros Single Malt Scotch Whisky 5 Year Old · 2021 Vintage
In stock
Bottled by Thompson Bros, this Lindores Abbey was distilled in 2021 and released at 5 years old from an Oloroso STR cask, with an outturn of 299 bottles. As the first ever independently bottled Lindores Abbey, it carries a little extra interest straight away, while the cask choice gives it a richer and more unconventional profile than a straightforward bourbon maturation. Bottled at 55.9% ABV, it is a young whisky, but one with plenty of character.
The whisky was originally filled into an ex-bourbon barrel on 4 March 2021 before being reracked into an STR Oloroso hogshead in October 2024. That combination works well here, with the STR sherry cask adding darker fruit, coffee notes and a slightly herbal edge, while the spirit keeps enough freshness to stop the whisky feeling heavy. The result is a full-flavoured, modern sherry cask style, with plenty of individuality and a profile that feels both playful and distinctive.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold hues and a touch of mahogany.
Nose
Red grapes and squid ink provide a dark, coffee-kissed core from Camp’s coffee, while Haribo Giant Strawbs add candy-fruit brightness. Eucalyptus and menthol introduce a cool herbal lift, finished by walnut skin for a dusky, distinctive profile.
Palate
A lively, fruit-forward palate weds wild strawberries and crimson grapes with figs for depth. Caramel glows warmth beneath, while hazelnut latte echoes nutty coffee notes. Subtle Kopiko coffee drops sharpen the mid-palate, finishing with fizzy lace sweetness that lingers invitingly.
Finish
Fresh and slightly mentholated, the finish returns to the Giant Strawbs, leaving a bright echo of red grape and a hint of coffee that lingers with a clean, playful zest.
