This 2015 Glen Moray was bottled in 2023 as part of the Warehouse 1 series after full maturation in Rioja red wine casks. Bottled at a natural strength of 59.8% ABV, non-chill filtered, it is an 8-year-old release rather than a simple wine finish, and that full Rioja maturation gives it a darker, more fruit-led profile than Glen Moray’s more typical bourbon-led style.
The Rioja casks bring plenty of depth here, adding cherries, plums, tobacco and gentle tannic structure to the distillery’s softer Speyside character. That gives the whisky a richer, more assertive style, with the wine cask influence shaping the profile from start to finish while still leaving enough freshness to keep it balanced.
