Glen Moray Warehouse 1 Peated Rioja Finish Cask Strength Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 11 Year Old · 2012 Vintage

This 2012 Glen Moray was bottled in 2023 at 11 years old as part of the Warehouse 1 series. Made from lightly peated spirit, it was initially matured in bourbon casks before a finish in Rioja red wine casks, then bottled at a natural strength of 58.8% ABV.

The Rioja casks bring a darker fruit profile to the whisky, adding plum, cherry and gentle tannic structure, while the peat gives it a soft smoky edge rather than overwhelming the spirit. That works well with Glen Moray’s fruit-led style, giving the whisky a fuller, more distinctive profile with sweet red fruit, light bonfire smoke and a little extra spice from the wine cask.
