Distillery Bottling

This superb Whisky was matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks for a total of 15 years. This is a rich and flavoursome Single Malt with plenty of that signature coastal character; vanilla and honey with the faintest hint of brine featuring throughout.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich golden amber with honeyed warmth and a subtle coastal glow.

Nose

Intense yet balanced, bursting with rich dried fruit, ripe apples and citrus, with honey sweetness and a generous chord of creamy vanilla. Slightly chocolaty and floral in the background.

Palate

Fragrant spices and Christmas cake mingle with chocolate layers and a distinct dark toffee sweetness, delivering a luxurious, balanced palate with a creamy texture and a lingering coastal whisper.

Finish

A delicate plume of salty sea air lingers on the finish, a maritime echo of the coast. Subtle brine threads weave with a soft sweetness, leaving a refined, lingering impression.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
