This excellent Old Pulteney 12 Year Old has been matured in hand selected ex-Bourbon casks, displaying the vibrant coastal character that the distillery is noted for. The nose and palate feature plenty of sweet honey and vanilla notes, plus nuts, spice, and fresh sea spray.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Medium to high intensity, briny sea air with a coastal lift; honeyed sweetness and vanilla mingle with toasted nuts and a touch of spice, carried by a fresh sea spray note.

Palate

Dry, medium bodied and smooth, redolent of honey and cream, faintly salty with a slight spicy note.

Finish

Sweet and long lasting.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
