Marking the introduction to The Coastal Series, Old Pulteney Pineau des Charentes is a limited edition expression that has been matured in American oak casks, before being finished in hand crafted ex-Pineau des Charentes French oak casks.

Old Pulteney Pineau des Charentes offers a lighter, sweeter taste layered on the classic Old Pulteney base. The result is a beautiful sweetness that perfectly complements Old Pulteney’s signature salty flavour, delivering a wonderful dram.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Fragrant and rich, honey sweetness with vanilla at the base. Intense fruitiness emerges jammy and stewed, unfolding into candied orange and sticky balsamic raisins. Hints of toasted spices and a pinch of pepper complete this stunning profile.

Palate

Notes of caramelised hazelnuts and ground spices, broadening in sweetness, and then drying ever so slowly towards a savoury finale of coastal minerality.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
