This 16-year-old Pulteney 2008 Highland single malt whisky, bottled in 2025 by Signatory Vintage for their Cask Strength Collection, is a single cask release without added colouring or chill filtration.

Distilled in 2008, this whisky comes from cask 12, a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt that produced 662 bottles at a robust 56.4% natural cask strength.

Coastal brine and honeyed warmth mingle as first-fill Oloroso unfurls. Dried fruit—fig, raisin—with orange marmalade, toffee, and cocoa drift over polished oak. A touch of almond, leather, and spice adds depth, while sea-salt air threads through, lending a maritime lift to a luxurious, full-bodied aroma.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
