Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper highlights and mahogany edges.
Nose
Sherry-cask perfume wraps the nose in velvet. Dried fruits (prune, fig, raisin) mingle with glazed orange zest. Rich toffee and burnt sugar drift over cocoa and espresso, while leather and tobacco meet warm spice (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg). A resinous oak backbone hints at concentrated, luxurious depth.
Palate
Luxuriously velvety, this Mortlach coats the palate with fig and raisin, entwined with dark chocolate, toffee and treacle. Sherry-cask richness carries orange zest, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, while an oily, full-bodied mouthfeel lingers. The finish is long and refined: polished oak, leather, a hint of espresso, and a warm, lingering dark-fruit glow.
Finish
Long, opulent finish of fig and plum, layered with dark chocolate and espresso, enveloped in lush sherry sweetness and spice, then fading to velvety oak and a warm, resinous glow.
