Every year since 2001, Diageo have released a series of Special Releases featuring rare, limited edition whiskies from some of Scotland’s finest distilleries. The 2021 Special Releases are the 20th set in this highly collectable series, and includes 8 Single Malt whiskies, bottled at cask strength, and released in limited quantities. The 2021 series has been titled “Legends Untold” and features striking illustrations and design work from digital illustrator Ken Taylor.
Known as "The Beast Of Dufftown", whiskies from the Mortlach Distillery are known for their robust and complex character. This richly full bodied single malt is no exception. The palate is mouth-coatingly opulent with bold vanilla and baked fruit flavours balanced by savoury notes of roasted meat, fresh herbs, and a kick of chilli-pepper. Matured in a combination of refilll and virgin oak casks.

Nose
Opulent and inviting, the nose delivers vanilla bean, sweet baked fruit, and rich toffee, lifted by resinous oak. Orange zest and dried fruit mingle with a savory undercurrent of roasted herbs and a whisper of meat, all flecked by a peppery oak spice. A bold, complex Mortlach prelude.
