Mortlach Old Malt Cask Single Sherry Cask #20093 Whisky 14 Year Old · 2008 Vintage
In stock
Bottled for the Old Malt Cask range, this Mortlach was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2023 at 14 years old from single sherry cask #20093. Released at 50% ABV, with an outturn of 272 bottles, it brings together Mortlach’s naturally weighty Speyside character with the richness and depth of sherry cask maturation.
Sherry casks are a particularly good match for Mortlach, adding layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate and warming spice while still leaving plenty of room for the distillery’s muscular style to come through. The result is a full-bodied, characterful whisky with real weight on the palate, where the cask influence adds polish and depth rather than overpowering the spirit.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with mahogany depth, a warm copper glow and subtle ruby-bronze edges
Nose
Sherried richness of dark dried fruits—raisins, fig and plum—intertwined with cocoa and melted dark chocolate. Warming spice—cinnamon, clove, nutmeg—rises against a weighty, polished Speyside backbone. The single sherry cask adds depth and elegance, lending fullness without overpowering Mortlach’s muscular character.
Palate
Full-bodied and weighty, with dried fruits and dark chocolate weaving through warming spice. The sherry cask adds polish and depth without overpowering Mortlach’s muscular backbone, finishing long with savoury warmth and a refined, lingering sweetness.
Finish
Long, sumptuous finish with warming spice, dark chocolate and dried fruit carried on velvety oak. Sherry sweetness lingers like toasted raisins and orange zest, fading to cocoa-tinted depth. A refined, muscular tail coats the palate in polished warmth, echoing Mortlach’s weighty character.
