Octomore 11.3 has been produced from 100% Octomore Farm grown barley. Aged for 5 years and peated to 194PPM. A true expresion of Islay's terroir.

This is a very distinct expression of Octomore, so much of the flavour comes from the malted barley and the distillation. The distillation techniques allow Bruichladdich to slowly coax the flavours from the grain; influenced so much by the location it is grown and trule express a unique flavour based on these fundamentals.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Dense amber-gold with coppery sheen and mahogany undertones, a warm, reddish-burnished glow that hints at sherry influence.

Nose

Slight floral character greets the nose, bright and summery. Peat smoke rises slowly in the background, clean and dry, with a delicate touch. Soft floral notes mingle with citrus, while honey and vanilla weave through, anchoring the perfume and hinting at the barley-forward Islay terroir.

Palate

On the palate it carries a stately presence, the high strength kept in check by a delicate sweetness. Honey and fruit syrup unfold with orange blossom and apricot jam, guided by a floral bouquet. Soft notes temper the peat, letting the barley-forward Islay character emerge with poised restraint rather than domination by phenols.

Finish

Phenolic presence lingers into a dry-smoked, earthy finish. Dry grass and burnt heather rise with hints of toffee and malt sugar, while the floral lift recedes, revealing a long, intricate finale.
