The Octomore 12.1 is delicate but powerful - unadulterated heavy smoke balanced with fruity and floral distillate. Never a range to conform to tradition, mainland grown Scottish barley is distilled in a patient and considered trickle, then matured solely in ex-American Whiskey casks for five years. The 12.1 is vibrant, punchy and lively initially, and then opens up to reveal layers of complexity. A dram that rewards those who seek to discover the mysterious, enigmatic Whisky that is Octomore.

Bright golden amber with sunlit honey hues.

Nose

Delicate yet assertive peat smoke leads, entwined with bright orchard fruit and delicate florals. Pear and lemon zest mingle with lilac and jasmine, while vanilla-caramel hints from the ex-American cask add kiss of sweetness. A brisk maritime edge lingers behind the smoky veil.

Palate

Bold peat opens with heavy smoke, while juicy orchard fruit and delicate florals weave through the palate. The mid-palate releases vanilla-spice sweetness from ex-American whiskey casks, balanced by a bright citrus lift. Velvety yet punchy, it reveals multiple layers of complexity, finishing long and smoky with echoes of coal, coffee, and amber sweetness.

Finish

Long, smoky and refined, the peat lingers with a kiss of vanilla and delicate floral-fruit lift. The ex-American cask influence cushions the heat into a warm, resinous finish, where citrus zest and oak spice fade slowly as the smoke persists with quiet grandeur.
