The 2nd release of a full 10 year old Octomore limited to 18,000 bottles with PPM levels of 167 and bottled at 57.3% ABV and aged in an interesting combination of Ex-Bourbon and Grenache Blanc wine casks (a first for Octomore and for me)
The nose is a delight that just keeps on giving and the extra maturity here (most octomore is bottled at 5 years old) along with the funky wine cask finish has added some very interesting and diverse flavours, but then you would expect nothing less from Bruichladdich.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich golden amber with sunlit honey and subtle copper highlights.
Nose
Heavy rain after a hot day on wet sand and pebbles by the coast, sweaty leather, smoked mandarin cheesecake, earthy smoke, oyster sauce, smoked mushroom pâté, tobacco and oatmeal.
Palate
On the palate, smoked pear and salted apple rest against oat biscuits and smoked cheese. Herbal lime brightness dances with floral hints, while peppery ripe orchard fruits roll through a spicy, lingering finish.
Finish
Smoked Greek yoghurt lingers with earthy herbs, lime and elderflower cordial, while salty goats’ cheese dries into a lozenge-like vegetal finish.
