The New batch of Octomore whiskies from Bruichladdich. Distilled from Scottish barley in 2013, Octomore 10.1 is the benchmark of the 10s series. In this series of Octomore, head distiller Adam Hannet is exploring the realms of softer smoke. Deliberately stripped back to an ex- American oak maturation and aged just 5 years.
The .1 edition exposes the structure and presence of the Octomore spirit. Combining smoke with a modest maturation, this 10.1 first and foremost demonstrates the true potential of a considered, patient distillation. Grown from 100% Concerto Barley and matured entirely on Islay, this release has peated to 107ppm.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich golden amber with honeyed warmth and a soft bronze undertone, a luminous, sunlit glow.
Nose
Piercing peat smoke mingles with sea-salt brine and iodine, carried by coastal minerals. Vanilla-driven oak and toasted barley bring warmth and creaminess, while citrus zest brightens the bouquet. A resinous, lifting smoke lingers, echoing Islay’s maritime character.
Palate
Big, focused peat coats the palate, tempered by creamy vanilla and toffee from ex-American oak. Salty sea spray and iodine lift the smoke, with citrus zest brightening the mid-palate. The oilier texture carries peppery, mineral notes, leading to a long, warming finish that lingers with ash and smoke.
Finish
Long, evolving finish of soft Islay peat lingers with vanilla and toasted oak. Coastal salt and cocoa nibs drift through a warm, resinous glow as the smoke finally fades to a poised mineral finish.
