Octomore Chromatic Signatures - Seventeen Series 17.3 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 5 Year Old

Octomore 17.3 is a five-year-old super heavily peated Islay single malt from the Chromatic Signatures series, made from 100% Scottish Islay Concerto barley grown in Irene’s Field at Octomore Farm and malted to 132.1 PPM. It was matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah casks before being bottled at a powerful 60.9% ABV.

The whisky is spirit-led in style, balancing muscular peat with sweetness and coastal freshness. Salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut are joined by praline and vanilla cream, while earthy, deeply charred peat brings layers of dry, ashy smoke. Citrus oils and salinity cut through the richness, keeping the whisky vibrant and balanced.

With time in the glass, smoked malt, sweet barley and peat come together more tightly, creating a whisky that feels powerful yet composed. Deeply smoky, coastal and complex, Octomore 17.3 is built around the connection between barley, provenance and place, with the cask influence adding depth without overshadowing the character of the spirit.
