Octomore 09.3 Islay Single Malt Whisky 5 Year Old · 2013 Vintage
In stock
It's been a while since we have been able to bring you the world's peatiest Single Malt but wait no longer! Just 52 tonnes of precious Islay barley were malted to produce this single farm Octomore - 09.3 edition. Raised in Irene’s Field on Octomore Farm in 2011, this uber-provenance single malt was later distilled and filled into 134 casks. Predominantly second-fill, the gentler influence of the wood allows more of the locally grown barley flavours to cut through the legendary peat smoke.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep sunlit amber with copper-gold highlights and a bronzed halo, suggesting a wine-barrel maturation beneath the peat.
Nose
Malted barley and Horlicks rise from the mash, a warm grainy sweetness. Heather wildfire and black tea mingle with golden syrup and lemon sponge, creating a bright, honeyed aroma.
Palate
Golden syrup coats the palate with smoked tea and wort, mingling malted barley with pear and peach melba, while sea spray and heather flowers lend a briny, floral lift.
Finish
A lasting seaside finish of smoke and toasted oak, with whispers of rye bread and sea salt, carried by a crisp ozone note that lingers long after the last sip.
