Colour

Deep amber with coppery-gold highlights.

Nose

Peat smoke coils with maritime brine and iodine, resting on polished oak. Dried fruit, dark chocolate and cocoa nibs unfold, lifted by citrus zest and vanilla sweetness, with a subtle note of toasted almond.

Palate

Peat-kissed and briny, the palate unfolds with creamy malt, maritime salt, and toasted oak. Notes of orange zest, dark chocolate, and espresso emerge, tempered by vanilla and spice. Full, silky texture leads to a long finish—smoky, peppery, and elegantly restrained by oak.

Finish

Long maritime smoke lingers, evolving into toasted oak and cocoa. Peat, sea salt and dark fruit weave a refined warmth, with a final kiss of spice that softly fades into a lingering, smoky echo.

Nikka Yoichi
(YOH-ee-chee) Yoichi was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky, on the coast of Hokkaido. Taketsuru had studied whisky-making in Scotland and chose Yoichi for its cool climate, clean air and coastal setting, seeing it as well suited to the robust style of malt whisky he wanted to make. Nikka’s predecessor, Dai Nippon Kaju, was established in July 1934, with construction of Yoichi completed in October of the same year.
