Kanosuke Distillery is located in Hioki, Kagoshima Province, the southernmost point of mainland Japan, along the coast of Fukiagehama, one of Japan's three largest sand dunes.
Kanosuke distillery commenced operations in 2017. The unusual aspect of Kanosuke is that it uses three pot stills (instead of the more normal two stills). This allows Kanosuke to produce different flavoured spirit as a result of different lyne arm angles.
The 2023 limited edition is made from 2018-2019 peated malt and bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and a bronze-tinted glow.
Nose
Banana and custard cream lead, woven with cinnamon candy, while a whisper of smoked daikon radish adds a subtle, savory intrigue.
Palate
Salted caramel anchors the palate, with bold black tea giving depth. Delicate notes of yatsuhashi weave through, and a bright blood orange lift carries into a clean, persistent finish.
Finish
Summer mandarin lingers with a peppery Szechuan kick and a gentle bonfire smoke that fades into warmth.
