Nikka The Grain Japanese Whisky
In stock
Nikka The Grain is composed of old Coffey grains (corn and malted barley) and Coffey malts (100% malted barley) from the now closed Nishinomiya distillery, as well as Coffey grains and Coffey malts from Miyagikyo. The finishing touches are added by Barley Grain (malted and unmalted barley) and Barley Grain and Corn & Rye (malted barley, corn, rye), all distilled in pot stills at the Moji and Satsumatsukasa distilleries, which originally specialized in Shochu production.
Each spirit was carefully selected from these four sites. Bottled at 48% ABV, this reveals a creamy texture and complex palette of complementary aromas.
The ivory white label is design like a canvas. Each of the four lines symbolizes the unique aromatic input of the four distilleries.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Pale gold with a creamy, sun-kissed glow; a delicate ivory-tinged amber that hints at velvety depth.
Nose
Fresh, complex and inviting, the nose opens with beeswax caressed by verbena and chamomile, weaving in pineapple and Mirabelle plum. A vanilla sweetness emerges, lightly roasted, revealing a heady, refined grain register that hints at richness to come.
Palate
Rich yet slender, the palate opens with a creamy assault of almond milk, coconut and vanilla, bright with energy. A slender mid-palate reveals delicate liquorice, then a softly spiced finish of cinnamon and ginger. The creaminess lingers, balanced by grainy whispers and a subtle, aromatic sweetness.
Finish
Well-balanced and creamy, the finish returns to the grain and aromatic-plant core first sensed on the nose. A minty, acacia-honey echo lingers, entwined with broom and mimosa blooms, fading slowly into a soft, spiced whisper.
