Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with honey hues and a gentle copper glow.

Nose

Creamy vanilla and rich toffee rise from the glass, veiled in smooth malt and grain sweetness. Fresh orange zest and poached pear give brightness, while almond biscuit and a whisper of oak provide structure. Gentle spice—cinnamon and nutmeg—emerge, with a subtle echo of coconut, culminating in a warm, inviting aroma.

Palate

Silky, full-bodied palate with a creamy, waxy texture. Honeyed malt, vanilla custard and almond paste mingle with dried apricot and candied citrus. Subtle spice—cinnamon and clove—and oak weave through, delivering a warming, lingering sweetness at 58% ABV.

Finish

Long, luxurious finish with honeyed toffee and dried fruit carried by orange zest and brown spices. Subtle cocoa and toasted oak echo through the palate, while a silky malt sweetness lingers, warmed by the high ABV and tapering to a comforting, persistent glow.

Nikka
Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, one of the key figures in the birth of Japanese whisky. The company began as Dai Nippon Kaju, with Yoichi Distillery completed the same year in Hokkaido, and the first bottle of Nikka Whisky followed in 1940. A second major milestone came in 1969 with the opening of Miyagikyo Distillery, giving Nikka two very different malt whisky styles to work with and helping define the house’s approach to blending.
