Nikka From the Barrel Extra Marriage is a limited release celebrating the 40th anniversary of the brands most famous whisky. This expression brings together grain whisky from Nikka’s Coffey stills with malt whiskies sourced primarily from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries.
This edition honours the original process whilst pushing it even further, benefiting from a cask marriage period of twice as long. This adds further depth, complexity, and elegance to the blend which is presented in its original bottle with a new silver label design, incorporating the words, Extra Marriage.
Nikka from the Barrel’s components have been aged for an average of 10 years in a variety of cask-types, expertly blended and then married for 3-6 months in a barrel and bottled ‘from the barrel’ at 51.4% ABV. For this limited edition the extended marriage period highlights the distinctive traits of each of the whiskies, harmonising all components to bring further complexity and elegance.

Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a warm bronze glow.
Nose
An opulent, multi-layered aroma: creamy vanilla and caramel from the Coffey grain mingle with rich malt notes from Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Oak, cocoa and spice—cinnamon and clove—rise with citrus zest and a whisper of smoke. The extended marriage lends depth and elegance, creating a warm, inviting bouquet.
Palate
Silky and full-bodied, with vanilla custard, caramel and dark honey entwined with toasted oak. Plum and raisin sweetness give way to a whisper of Yoichi smoke, tempered by Miyagikyo fruitiness. Black pepper, cinnamon and cocoa emerge mid-palate, then fade to a long, elegant finish—rich, balanced, and warmly lingering at its 51.4% ABV.
Finish
An enduring, velvety finish that lingers with refined warmth. Dark caramel and vanilla drift into toasted oak, cinnamon and cocoa, while dried fruit and citrus zest weave a bright, elegant ribbon. The extended marriage elevates complexity, leaving a subtle, peppery echo that tapers slowly into a long, polished finish.
