Chita Single Grain Japanese Whisky
In stock
The first ever single grain Whisky from the Chita distillery which has been matured in a combination of Sherry, Bourbon and Wine casks.
This is normally blended with The yamazaki and Hakushu single malts for the Hibiki range of Blends, so interesting to finally see this released as a single grain in the UK.
92.5 Points Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
Very fresh and aromatic summer breeze of a whisky, the dashi (as they say in Japan) grain that goes into the award winning Hibiki blends and great to try this on its own as a single grain.
Would make a lovely Mizuwari cocktail (big shot of whisky over ice and topped up with soda or tonic water with some fresh mint).

Tasting Notes
Colour
Bright golden straw with a warm honey-amber edge.
Nose
Bright nose of melon and ginger, with fresh cereal, coconut, lemon drizzle cake, and runny honey, lifted by delicate summery floral notes.
Palate
Honey-nut wheat cereal and vanilla biscuits mingle with flaked almonds and white nougat, with ripe Galia melon and pear drops lending sweetness and brightness; the oily, waxy mouthfeel is full yet vibrant, very aromatic and fresh.
Finish
Light and aromatic, the finish coats with blossom honey, vanilla toast and marzipan. Waxy lemon threads through as dried apricot, coconut and lime cordial linger, leaving a bright, citrus-tropical fade.
