Nikka from the Barrel is one of the most recognisable Japanese blended whiskies, made from malt and grain whiskies from the two Nikka distilleries. The whisky is full of flavour and richness, showcasing a honeyed sweetness followed by candied orange peel, raisin and dried apricot, cinnamon, clove and coconut with a hint of smoke. The whisky is 51.4% ABV and presented in a now iconic square bottle.

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a warm mahogany glow.

Nose

Fine and complex, the aroma unfolds with lilac florals, ripe apricot, and a whisper of clove, edged by subtle leather notes that hint at refined maturity.

Palate

Powerful and peppery on the palate, with oak-driven depth. Fruity notes of peach and caramelised apples mingle with delicate honeysuckle, leaving a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

Long, maritime, with coastal wind and plums lingering, then unfolding into oak and vanilla.

Nikka
Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, one of the key figures in the birth of Japanese whisky. The company began as Dai Nippon Kaju, with Yoichi Distillery completed the same year in Hokkaido, and the first bottle of Nikka Whisky followed in 1940. A second major milestone came in 1969 with the opening of Miyagikyo Distillery, giving Nikka two very different malt whisky styles to work with and helping define the house’s approach to blending.
