A 21 year old blended Japanese whisky (Nikka) from TBWC. This, the first batch, was a release of 940 bottles.

The nose carries figs, almonds, tobacco and herbs. The palate is a touch sweet, with a fruitcake quality. Also coffee and nut flavours are present. The finish is subtle, rich and fruity with a sherry like quality to it.

A very refined whisky.

Colour

Deep amber with luminous copper-gold facets and a touch of mahogany, a warm, wine-bronze glow.

Nose

A refined bouquet of figs, almonds, tobacco and herbs, quietly elegant.

Palate

A touch of sweetness frames a fruitcake core, with coffee and toasted nut flavours adding depth and a refined, velvety texture on the palate.

Finish

Subtle, rich and fruity, with a lingering sherry-like warmth that softly coats the palate.

Nikka
Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, one of the key figures in the birth of Japanese whisky. The company began as Dai Nippon Kaju, with Yoichi Distillery completed the same year in Hokkaido, and the first bottle of Nikka Whisky followed in 1940. A second major milestone came in 1969 with the opening of Miyagikyo Distillery, giving Nikka two very different malt whisky styles to work with and helping define the house’s approach to blending.
