Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with warm golden hues and coppery glints, a luminous honeyed glow.

Nose

Opulent aroma of rich chocolate and liqueur orange, lifted by aromatic spices. Salted mocha and caramel toffee, cherry jam on toast, honeycomb, plus sherry-soaked raisin and a hint of sherry oak.

Palate

Rich and spicy on the palate, delivering chocolate honeycomb, mocha and French toast, with sherry-soaked spongecake, honey-roasted nuts and salted toffee, finishing with black cherry.

Finish

Sweet and spicy, the finish lingers with cherry and dark chocolate, mocha and toasted aromatic spices, orange truffles, and salted honeycomb, a warm, lingering encore.

Nikka Taketsuru
(NIK-ah tah-ket-SOO-roo) Nikka Taketsuru takes its name from Masataka Taketsuru, the Hiroshima-born son of a sake-brewing family who travelled to Scotland in 1918 to study whisky-making. He founded Dai Nippon Kaju, the predecessor of Nikka Whisky, in 1934 and completed Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido later that year, followed by Miyagikyo Distillery in 1969.
