"Fruity, perfumed nose with apple, lemon licorice, vanilla and a tang of peat. Quite full bodied and nicely balanced with honey and cream, nutmeg, gentle peat, almond and butterscotch. Medium length finish with vanilla, eating apple, subtle smoke and a hint of brine."
A 12 year old blend from the Japanese distillers Nikka Taketsuru is a vatting of Yoichi and Miyagiko single malts which won the 2012 world whisky for best non-scotch blended malt.

Colour
Warm, rich amber with honey-gold depth and a subtle coppery sheen.
Nose
Fruity, perfumed nose with ripe apple, lemon licorice and vanilla, accented by a tang of peat. Honeyed and creamy, it unfolds with nutmeg, almond and butterscotch, a soft peat whisper lingering.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied palate of honeyed cream, vanilla and nutmeg, with apple notes and a touch of lemon zest. Gentle peat and almond mingle with butterscotch as subtle smoke lingers, finishing with vanilla, eating apple and a hint of brine.
Finish
Medium-length finish where vanilla threads with crisp eating apple, a touch of gentle smoke and a final whisper of brine.
