Sweet malt and honeyed cereal open the aroma, with ripe pear and green apple notes. Vanilla and gentle toffee weave through a touch of oak, while delicate florals lift the bouquet. A subtle maritime breeze and a whisper of light smoke complete the profile, inviting a refined, lingering finish.

Palate

Silky and medium-bodied, this pure malt opens with honeyed malt, ripe orchard fruits and vanilla. Caramel and toffee sweetness deepen with almond and citrus rind, cushioned by gentle oak. Subtle spice warms the mid-palate, finishing long, warm and malt-forward, with refined, lingering elegance.

Finish

Long and silky, the finish carries creamy malt with honeyed vanilla and orchard fruit, a gentle spice warming the palate, and a faint trace of smoke that fades into a refined, lingering sweetness.

(NIK-ah tah-ket-SOO-roo) Nikka Taketsuru takes its name from Masataka Taketsuru, the Hiroshima-born son of a sake-brewing family who travelled to Scotland in 1918 to study whisky-making. He founded Dai Nippon Kaju, the predecessor of Nikka Whisky, in 1934 and completed Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido later that year, followed by Miyagikyo Distillery in 1969.
