Nikka Yoichi Apple Brandy Wood Finish Single Malt Japanese Whisky
In stock
Released to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Masataka and Rita Taketsuru getting married and a nod to the early days of the business when apple juice and then apple brandy were produced.
This Yoichi Single Malt has been finished in Apple Brandy barrels and bottled in 2020. Apples are a strong symbol for Nikka and often associated with the relationship with Rita and Masataka Taketsuru, as he started his business activity with the production of apple juices and jams while awaiting the maturation of his first whiskies.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with coppery glints and honeyed warmth, luminous and inviting.
Nose
Peaty, expressive smokiness dominates the opening, with earthy undergrowth adding depth. As it opens, ripe apple and lemon notes emerge, cutting through the smoke to give a bright, fruit-forward character.
Palate
Rich, oily mouthfeel with a salty undercurrent and persistent peat. A second wave reveals honeyed sweetness and delicate floral notes, weaving a poised, balanced core that lingers gracefully.
Finish
Wonderfully subtle, the finish lingers with a fresh peat edge, wrapping green apple notes with a light touch of ash.
