Nikka Yoichi Apple Brandy Wood Finish Single Malt Japanese Whisky
In stock
Released to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Masataka and Rita Taketsuru getting married and a nod to the early days of the business when apple juice and then apple brandy were produced.
This Yoichi Single Malt has been finished in Apple Brandy barrels and bottled in 2020. Apples are a strong symbol for Nikka and often associated with the relationship with Rita and Masataka Taketsuru, as he started his business activity with the production of apple juices and jams while awaiting the maturation of his first whiskies.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Intense Gold.
Nose
The peaty notes are more expressive than in the iconic Yoichi Single Malt, with a thick smokiness and notes of undergrowth that dominate the first nose. Then fruity aromas of ripe apple and lemon hints stand out to give a unique character.
Palate
At first, the rich and oily texture enhances salty notes. The peaty character remains while a second wave of smooth honey and floral flavours appear to create the perfect balance.
Finish
Wonderfully subtle, the finish surprises with its freshness and remains of peatiness, that remind of green apple and light ashes.
