Cask Strength Distillery Bottling

The ninth release in Chichibu’s UK-exclusive London Edition series, this 2026 bottling is a marriage of just 16 casks of single malt whisky distilled at the original Chichibu distillery. First and second-fill bourbon barrels form the core of the vatting, joined by two wine casks sourced from New Zealand and California.

Bottled at 50.5% ABV with an outturn of 2,220 bottles, the release also completes the three-part Warrior Series of labels, with artwork depicting a warrior confronting a serpent and incorporating a distinctive glow-in-the-dark finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Opens with notes of vanilla and honey along with whipped cream and touch of grapefruit peel.

Palate

On the palate there is a rich stone fruit character with apricots and peaches

Finish

Sweet vanilla custard and a touch of cracked white pepper.

Chichibu
(chee-CHEE-boo) Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto and began distilling in 2008 in Saitama Prefecture, at a time when new Japanese whisky distilleries were still rare. Akuto had already made his name by rescuing casks from his family’s closed Hanyu distillery and bottling them as Ichiro’s Malt, so Chichibu arrived with a strong sense of continuity as well as a fresh start.
