Double Distilleries 2021 was crafted through a rare collaboration between the Chichibu and Komagatake distilleries. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, American white oak and ex-sherry casks, this limited release is vibrant and complex.

On the nose, it offers notes of tropical fruits complimented by hints of green banana and citrus. The tropical notes continue on the palate, with banana, pineapple and mango, followed by sea salt and vanilla.

Colour

Rich golden amber with warm copper undertones.

Nose

Bright tropical fruits unfold on the nose, with hints of green banana and citrus lending a lively, sunlit lift.

Palate

Banana, pineapple and mango flood the palate, framed by creamy vanilla and a coastal sea-salt edge. Subtle oak sweetness from the ex-bourbon and sherry casks supports the fruit, finishing bright, tropical and warmly nuanced.

Finish

Long, tropical finish: banana and pineapple recede into vanilla sweetness, kissed by sea salt and a gentle oak warmth that lingers softly.

Chichibu
(chee-CHEE-boo) Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto and began distilling in 2008 in Saitama Prefecture, at a time when new Japanese whisky distilleries were still rare. Akuto had already made his name by rescuing casks from his family’s closed Hanyu distillery and bottling them as Ichiro’s Malt, so Chichibu arrived with a strong sense of continuity as well as a fresh start.
