The third in a trio of SMWS Brora bottlings we have in our collection. One of just 334 bottles were produced from this refill Hogshead cask. Much more oaky and sweet in character, this has butterscotch and vanilla flavour to go along with the classic lightly peated style of the distillery.

Colour

Golden amber with honeyed warmth and coppery-bronze edges.

Nose

From refill hogshead oak, vanilla and butterscotch surge with creamy toffee over a rich oak backbone. A gentle peat smoke and subtle maritime notes weave through caramel sweetness, delivering the oaky, lightly peated Brora aroma.

Palate

Opulent and oaky on the palate, this Brora pours with lush butterscotch and vanilla over a creamy base. Subtle peat lingers alongside toasted oak and gentle spice, shaping a smooth, generous mouthfeel. A warm, lingering sweetness gives way to a soft, smoky echo that preserves the balance without heaviness.

Finish

Long, sumptuous finish with toffee-like butterscotch and vanilla lingering over warm oak. A delicate peat whisper remains, leaving a refined, softly smoky echo that slowly fades into velvety sweetness.

Brora (silent)
(BRAW-ruh) Brora was founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, later the Duke of Sutherland, and originally operated as Clynelish. The present Clynelish distillery was built next door in the late 1960s, after which the original site was reopened in 1969 and renamed Brora. During the early Brora years it produced a heavily peated style for blending, before gradually returning to a lighter Highland character.
