Brora (silent) 2017 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 34 Year Old · 1982 Vintage
In stock
2017's Special Release Brora is the sixteenth in the series from this celebrated closed coastal north Highlands distillery.
Distilled in 1982, by which time far less peat was being used than during previous decade, it spent over 34 years in refill American oak hogsheads.
Only 3000 bottles released.
Finely integrated and smoothed out, the usual key notes of waxiness and fragrant smokiness are much reduced, while the elegant taste also offers an uncommon and attractive note of szechuan pepper.
8.9/10 Whisky Magazine.
Well worth bearing with this slow magestic whisky. Once it opens up it is engaging and multi-layered.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Pale straw gold with a delicate, sunlit sheen and a whisper of honey.
Nose
Impressively delicate and restrained at first, it reveals a ground almond and lime cordial edge, then opens to a riot of floral, orange and lemon notes.
Palate
A huge wave of custard cream and vanilla pods hits first, then a gentle smoke in the background. Griddled pineapple and a hint of chilli pods.
Finish
Long and contemplative, the finish lingers with church‑candles wax and the quiet warmth of a waxed Barbour jacket. Subtle smoke stays in the background, fading to a refined dryness with delicate spice lingering as the coastal elegance slowly releases its grip.
