Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery-bronze hues and a honey-gold glow.
Nose
Intense Caol Ila peat smoke, briskly mingled with sea-salt and iodine. Fresh lemon zest and waxy vanilla swirl through the smoke, while faint coastal brine and almond spice lend depth; a sherry-softened fruitiness lingers in the background.
Palate
On the palate the peat is bold yet refined, delivering smoky coastal character with a plush, sherried sweetness. Dried fig, cocoa, and orange zest weave with vanilla and roasted almond, all wrapped in a creamy, full-bodied texture. Oak-spice builds, finishing long, warm and peppery, with a final kiss of iodine and sea-salt.
Finish
Long, maritime peat lingers, carried by sherry-softened smoke. Dark chocolate and dried red fruit unfold, with orange zest adding a bright lift. A saline, coastal pulse and warm spices persist, tapering to a resinous, enduring finish that seals Caol Ila’s smoky, seaborne character.
