Caol Ila Chieftain's Rum Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky 11 Year Old · 1993 Vintage

An unusual Caol Ila from the Chieftain's collection, distilled in March 1993 and aged for 11 years before receiving a rum cask finish. The combination brings together Caol Ila's coastal peat smoke with a sweeter cask influence, adding suggestions of tropical fruit, molasses-like richness and warming spice to the distillery's typically fresh Islay style.

Bottled in March 2004 at 46% ABV from casks 90222 and 90227, just 498 bottles were produced. Un-chill-filtered and naturally coloured, this small-batch release is an especially interesting example of early experimental finishing from one of Islay's most recognisable distilleries.
