Part of Diageo’s annual Distillers Edition range, this Caol Ila expression is a special double-matured version of the distillery’s classic Islay single malt. After its initial maturation in traditional oak casks, the whisky is finished in Moscatel wine casks, adding an extra layer of sweetness and depth to Caol Ila’s naturally smoky, coastal character. Bottled at 43% ABV, it offers a richer and more rounded take on the distillery’s style.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-gold with honeyed amber depths and a whisper of mahogany at the rim.
Nose
Forward, smoky and spicy, with Caol Ila’s fresh, clean notes unfolding as if a bonfire has been doused with water. A delicate fruit lift lingers beneath the smoke, restrained by the coastal, maritime edge.
Palate
Firm and oily-smooth on the palate, it opens with a mouth-coating sweetness before a bold, coastal smoke takes hold. The peat is intensely flavoured yet balanced by generous sweetness, with ample body and a hint of light-wood spice that carries into a long, warming finish.
Finish
Long, smoky and robust, it lingers with palate-warming spice—a warming, mouth-coating finish that slowly fades.
