A Caol Ila single malt bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice range, this 17 year old was distilled in 2007 and matured in a refill sherry butt before being bottled in 2025 at cask strength of 57.1% ABV, with only 404 bottles released.
Refill sherry maturation adds a layered sweetness and fruit depth that complements Caol Ila’s characteristic peated Islay personality. Expect maritime smoke and seaside salinity intertwined with richer notes from sherry influence, such as stewed fruit and gentle spice, with lingering bonfire embers and citrus zest on the finish.
This release is non-chill filtered and natural in colour, giving a concentrated and expressive expression of the distillery’s coastal smoke and oak-driven complexity in a limited, single cask format.
