A 10 year old aged in Refill American oak Hogsheads and rejuvenated European oak Butts that was specially released for the 2018 Feis Ile and personally selected by new distillery manager Pierrick Guillaume, who joined Caol Ila last summer from Glen Elgin in Speyside.
Conclusion Warming and rich, demonstrating far more depth than the age suggests (which is why we should never take a whisky on its face value).

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with sunlit honey highlights and a warm, radiant glow.
Nose
Stewed dark fruits—figs and plums—bathed in golden syrup-infused custard, with clove- and cinnamon-spiced fruitcake and sticky toffee pudding. A whisper of smoke lingers in the background, lending warmth and depth.
Palate
Thick and sweet, with golden sultanas and rich dried fruit, folded in cloves and black pepper. Dry oloroso sherry drapes syrupy toffee caramel and sun-warmed sultanas; dried citrus peel and lemon meringue lift the palate, touched by a faint polished-leather bitterness. Smoke is barely noticeable. Water heightens sweetness and smooths the edges, lending a luxurious, lingering richness.

Wisps of smoke, a dying hearth. Picking elusive cake crumbs from your jumper.
