Maritime perfume of sea-salt air, wrapped around cured ham, with whispers of bonfire embers and the mineral scent of rock pools.

Palate

Oceanic and bright, a sweet, sun-kissed note broadens across the palate before a gentle wave of smoke. Scottish barley lends a comforting cereal sweetness that stays with a soft maritime backdrop, finishing with a clean, coastal glow.

Finish

A big, peaty finish that lingers, weaving oak and leather with dark blackberries and a final touch of black pepper.

Caol Ila
(kowel-EEL-ah) Caol Ila was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on Islay’s east coast, overlooking the Sound of Islay between Islay and Jura. Its Gaelic name refers to that stretch of water, and the site was chosen with access to sea transport and a water supply from Loch nam Ban. Ownership changed early, passing to Norman Buchanan in 1854 and then to Bulloch Lade & Co in 1863.
