Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Aromas first unleash coastal peat and iodine, a brisk sea-salt breeze carried on a plume of warm smoke. Beneath, sherry-sweetened dark fruit—fig, raisin, dried plum—coats with chocolate and toasted nuts. Subtle leather, tobacco and spice unfurl, while orange zest lends a bright lift. The complexity hints at Port Ellen’s legendary depth, elegant yet powerful, inviting long exploration.
Palate
Silky peat coats the palate with maritime iodine and sea-salt, while sherry sweetness threads through notes of dried fig, plum and dark chocolate. Vanilla and oak spice emerge beneath, as the smoke broadens, delivering a long, ashy finish accented by espresso and leather.
Finish
Long, coastal finish of peat and smoke, with maritime salinity lingering. Dried fruits and cocoa unfold, while cinnamon and white pepper inject a gentle spice. Subtle leather and toasted oak persist, with a whisper of espresso and citrus zest as sweetness recedes into a refined, lingering glow.
