The legendary 1st release of Port Ellen from Diageo as part of their Special Release series. One of the most famous and sought after whisky bottlings from this world renowned Islay distillery.
Distilled in 1979, 4 years before its closure, this was matured in American oak casks for 22 Years before being bottled at natural cask strength. Fruity, smoky and dry in character, just 6000 bottles of this were released.

Colour
Deep amber with coppery bronze sheen and a warm, sunlit glow.
Nose
Powerful peat smoke drifts with sea-salt air, unveiling bright citrus zest and ripe orchard fruit. Sherry-influenced depth brings dark dried fruits and a vanilla gloss, all set against a dry, coastal backbone that hints at Port Ellen’s legendary balance.
Palate
Powerful, palate-coating smoke frames bright orchard fruits and citrus zest, with a rich undercurrent of vanilla and toasty oak from American casks. The sweetness ebbs to a dry, saline finish, with a peppery bite that lingers and thickens the impression of aged peat.
Finish
Long, dry and fiercely smoky, the finish lingers with coastal peat and sea-salt, giving way to sweet fruit and vanilla notes that echo through the smoke before fading to a refined, mineral dryness.
