Port Ellen (silent) Feis ile 2008 - 7.5th Release Single Cask Whisky 27 Year Old · 1981 Vintage
In stock
At the time of writing this was the first and only Single Cask bottling from Port Ellen bottled under Diageo ownership.
Only available from the 2008 Feis Ile Islay festival for just 220 very lucky people, the majority who queued for many many hours at the Caol Ila distillery such is the importance of this bottle.
Anyone who collected the now defunct yearly Port Ellen special releases will never really have a full set until they obtain this bottle. We regard it as the 7.5th release and the market agress as this bottle hardly ever appears for sale and each time it does the price continually rises.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with a reddish mahogany core and a bright golden rim.
Nose
Towering peat smoke, coastal brine and iodine rise from the glass, supported by a sherry-kissed core. Dried fig and plum mingle with dark chocolate, burnt orange zest, leather and cedar, while a touch of toffee hints sweetness, finishing with tobacco and spice.
Palate
A majestic, full-bodied palate of coastal peat and iodine, velvety and powerful. Dried dark fruit—fig, plum, raisin—blends with rich sherry, cacao and toffee; oak provides backbone while saline mineral notes keep it electric. Savory smoke lingers with peppery spice and leather, unfolding into a long, warming finish.
Finish
An impeccably long finish that clings with sea-salt peat and smoky nori, slowly revealing velvety dark chocolate, dried fig and sherry depth. The warmth lingers on the palate, with hints of leather and espresso giving way to a refined mineral brightness, leaving a dignified, coastal ribbon of spice.
