The Macallan Anniversary Malt Highland Single Malt Whisky 50 Year Old · 1928 Vintage
In stock
One of the Holy Grails of Rare and Collectable Whisky and a far superior piece compared to the many £100,000+ Synthetic Whisky collectables bought to market in recent years.
Produced from three casks, one from 1926 and two from 1928 and thus touched by the spirit of Nettie Harbinson herself (see the outstanding Macallan short film The Spirit of 1926 for a more thorough insight)
These three casks were finally bottled in 1983 and although it is labeled as a 50 year old, it is probably, if you do the math, a circa 54 year old.
This example, one of only 500 bottled is in perfect, as new condition, supplied in its original leather strapped wooden crate and complete with a personal letter of authenticity from the then Chairman of Macallan Allan G. Shiach, who coincidentally wrote the script for the Macallan film mentioned above.
A bottle that would be the centrepiece of any serious Macallan collection and be the envy of your friends, family and probably the Presidents of many countries.
Oh, and the original retail price back in 1983, a mere Fifty British Pounds, but what you are looking at now is probably the next future million pound bottle of Macallan.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich copper-gold with deep mahogany depths, glowing amber at the rim and a warm, honeyed sheen that hints at sherry cask maturity.
Nose
Opulent sherry-spiked aroma with ripe raisin, fig and date, lacquered by mahogany oak. Hints of orange zest, toffee and dark chocolate mingle with cinnamon and nutmeg, while velvety leather, tobacco and cedar deepen the profile, ending in a refined, balsamic whisper of aged wood.
Palate
Silky and opulent on the palate, this Macallan luxuriates in sherried richness with fig, raisin and orange zest. Layered spice—cinnamon and clove—fades into toasted almond, dark chocolate and polished oak. A syrupy, full-bodied sweetness gives way to a long, refined finish with subtle tobacco and leather notes, timelessly elegant.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish that lingers with velvet warmth. Rich sherry sweetness threads through dried figs and dates, unfolding into dark chocolate, orange zest and vanilla. Spices—clove and cinnamon—offer gentle heat, while polished oak frames the evolution. Leather and tobacco leave a refined, cacao-touched echo as the finale slowly fades.
