Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, rich amber with coppery highlights and a hint of mahogany at the edges.
Nose
Maritime peat smoke with iodine and sea-salt wraps the nose, reminiscent of Islay tides. Layered beneath are dried fig and plum sweetness, a hint of orange zest, and dark chocolate kissed by refined sherry-influenced oak. A quiet, enduring peat whisper lingers.
Palate
Oil-rich and full-bodied, this Port Ellen delivers waves of peat smoke and sea-salt brine. Dried fig, dark chocolate and treacle mingle with date and a soft sherry sweetness. Spices—clove and cinnamon—and vanilla thread through a robust, integrated warmth. The finish is long and maritime, with char, citrus zest and pepper fading to a saline, smoky glow.
Finish
Long maritime finish, with sea-salt and iodine riding over dense peat smoke. Dark dried fruit and cocoa emerge as warmth from the 47.9% lingers, aided by sherry maturity. Oak becomes velvety and resinous, leaving a peppery, nutty echo that fades slowly to a dry, coastal twilight.
