One of our favourite Speyside malts here at HTFW and a very elegant example displaying classic distillery character.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with warm honey hues and a sunlit glow.

Nose

Lemon mousse, shortbread fresh from the oven, vanilla sugar, meringue nests, lemon thyme, pear drops.

Palate

Waxy lemon opens with shortbread and thyme honey, dotted with vanillin oak and sugared almonds. Cheesecake cream texture evolves into oily barley sugar, wine gums and a hint of gingerspice, finishing with ripe melon.

Finish

Fragrant, waxy citrus lingers with pear drops, spicy vanilla oak and sugared almonds. Lemon thyme threads through a curd-like mouthfeel, giving way to melon, ginger and white grapes for a bright, lingering finish.

Linkwood
(LINK-wood) Linkwood was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown on the Linkwood Estate near Elgin, with production beginning in 1825. His son William Brown rebuilt the distillery in 1874, and the Brown family remained involved until the Linkwood-Glenlivet Distillery Company was formed at the end of the 19th century. Scottish Malt Distillers took control in the early 1930s, bringing Linkwood into what later became Diageo.
